I am very pleased with the start our students have made in 2024. Thank you for the wonderful support you have provided to our children in giving them the best opportunity for success. Of particular note is the high rate of uniform compliance. Our students look outstanding when they are all in uniform.
I encourage you to work with the school to maintain the high standards we have commenced with. If you are in need of any assistance, whether it be uniform, devices, or in supporting your child to navigate adolescence, please do not hesitate to contact the school for support. Year advisors, the wellbeing team and deputy principals are here to assist you with any concerns.

Our P&C meet four times per year, once each term. The P&C is an important advisory body and operates our school canteen. There are no other fund raising activities or expectations of members outside of the meetings.
We value and need the input of parents, carers and citizens into the important decisions that the school makes to support student learning and wellbeing.
The first meeting for the year will be held on Monday March 11, 6:00pm, in the school library - entrance by the northern/lower end gates. This is an important meeting where we will discuss, changes to school policy, the development of the new School Improvement Plan (SIP), the work and professional learning that staff will be undertaking in explicit instruction and our focus on high potential and gifted education (HPGE).
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, we will be providing hoodies for all students. The process of sizing for students is currently being undertaken so that we can order items in time for the cooler weather.
All year 7 students will also receive a complementary school polo shirt this term. Further information on how shirts will be distributed will be provided in due course.
Please be aware that for some subjects students may be required to wear specific shoes for safety reasons. While at school, students should not wear thongs, crocs, sandals or other uncovered footwear due to WHS requirements.
I must reinforce that appropriate clothing at school must be worn at all times. Tights are not part of the agreed uniform at Francis Greenway.
The reduced cost of the uniform will ensure that all students are able to access the correct clothing. Please do not hesitate contacting the relevant deputy principal if extra support is required to access the school uniform.
Years 7 an 9 will be sitting the NAPLAN tests this term from 13-20 March. The tests are mandatory for students unless an exemption is in place. The data that we obtain from the tests is extremely valuable in further developing our programs in literacy and numeracy. The long term impact is developing these skills and the positive impact it has on HSC student achievement. Students will be required to use their devices to complete exams. Please reinforce the importance of students having their devices charged and the lockdown browser uploaded. Devices will be made available for those without BYOD.
