Library Borrowing Term 4

At the end of each year, the Library conducts a stocktake. We have around 7,000 books in our library so this usually takes some time! From Week 8 of this term we will start collecting books to begin our stocktake process. It would be great if library books could be returned to school by Week 8. If you know a book is lost, please contact the school ASAP.

 Library Displays

This term we have read some brilliant new books during library lessons. Year Five created an artwork to display their recent reads. The recommended books include Wonder, I Survived series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, World’s Worst Pets and many more! 

Year Three enjoyed listening to Amma’s Sari. Amma’s Sari is a powerful new picture book exploring the connection with family, the acceptance of difference, and the celebration of cultural heritage. Year Three responded to the book by designing and producing a sari artwork. 

Mrs Byron and the Jr Librarians have created a Christmas display for the library. We’re lucky enough to have a large collection of Christmas books which I’m sure will be very popular over the next few weeks! 

School Holiday Reading

Did you know that St Xavier’s students have access to thousands of eBooks and audiobooks via the Armidale Catholic Schools Office Digital Library?

The digital library is accessible via the app called SORA, by Overdrive. Simply access the app store and search for Sora. Alternatively go to https://soraapp.com 

The next step will be for your child to log in using their own personal username and password. Students should know their username as it is the first part of their school email address, however if they need reminding please ask them to come and see me in the library. Their password is simply the same password that they use to log in to their chromebooks every day at school. 

The fabulous thing about SORA and the digital library is that it can be accessed from home and is available throughout the year, including during school holidays. This means access to thousands of eBooks and audiobooks at any time!
