Religion and Parish News
Prayer:
Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation:
In the darkness and in the light.
Blessed are you
In this food and in our sharing.
Blessed are you as we wait in joyful hope
For the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom, the power
And the glory are yours,
Now and forever.
Amen
Prayer for Peace in the Middle East:
Lord Jesus Christ,
The Holy Land is once again struck by violence, hatred, and death. Lord, look with mercy upon the land that was your earthly home.
Receive the deceased into your presence. Comfort those who mourn, are wounded, or forced to flee. Be close to all who are full of fear and despair.
You are our peace and the light of the nations, put an end to the spiral of terror and suffering in the Holy Land and in the whole Middle East.
Let peace and justice flourish at the holy sites. You are our refuge. Let the people be safe in your Love.
Have mercy on us and on our time.
Amen.
Catholic Mission Fundraising
Thank you for your combined efforts towards our fundraising efforts for Catholic Missions. To date, we have raised close to $700 from classroom Mission Boxes since the start of this term. Congratulations to Year 4 who have now retained the Mission Cup for the past three weeks - the first St Xavier’s class to win the Cup three weeks in a row!
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Leading up to the Christmas period, St Xavier’s works with the local St Vincent de Paul Society to provide food products to the less fortunate this Christmas. Each class will have a couple of Vinnies baskets to collect the food items, which will then be presented to Vinnies volunteers at the St Xavier’s Assembly on Monday Week 10 (11th December). This year, we are asking for donations of the following festive foods: packets of chips/nuts, bottles of soft drink, tinned hams, tinned fruit, chocolate-coated sultanas, shortbread biscuits, Christmas cakes/puddings. Festive items such as bon-bons are ok as well, but we would prefer these items to be donated in conjunction with a donation of food items.
Upcoming RE Events
- End of Year Mass: 9:30am, Tuesday 5th December at St Joseph’s Church
