Our final Monday morning assembly was held Monday. Many thanks to all the parents, grandparents and friends that have joined us for assembly throughout the year. It is great to be able to share what is happening with you all. It also gives our students an opportunity to speak and perform in front of others. This week the Foundation group sang a Chinese song about a tiger without a tail, and we saw some work the Year 5 & 6 class had been doing with the Spheros.

Star Students

Foundation: The “entire class”, who have approached all new activities and challenges with a growth mindset.

Year 1 & 2 Learning Detective of the week: Tyson, for displaying enthusiasm for learning.

Year 3 & 4: Cody, for having a positive attitude during all final assembly dance practices.

Reading Awards

The final certificates for 2023 were awarded on Monday, well done to:

25 nights: Delilah.

150 nights: Archer & Millah.

200 nights: Tom M.

225 nights: Molly & Campbell.

Chinese Diablo Awards:

In Chinese cultural classes toward the end of the term, students have been learning Diablo skills. The following students were awarded certificates at assembly on Monday for passing the Fundamental Diablo Skills:

Eli, Wally, Campbell, Noah, Tom M, Millah, Delilah, Molly, Harrison, Nate L, Tyson, Ned, Don, Hudson, Lily, Matthew, Chace, Tom F, Isabella, Josh, Cody, Lilymae and Tom J.

The swimming program has been going really well. All students have been bringing their swimming gear and the warm weather has made it easy to complete all the activities without students getting too cold. Many thanks to all the staff that have given up their time to assist with the program, as our students are extremely fortunate to be taught in such small groups. The difference these couple of weeks makes to their ability is amazing. Thanks also to Starts Buslines for providing transportation to and from the pool, saving students from the heat. Below are some snaps from around the pool.

Carols

Many thanks to all the parents who attended the Community Carols with their children on Sunday night. We had lots of fun practicing over the past couple of weeks. Our students brought their performance home with a BANG on Sunday night.

Plenty of enthusiasm with the practices.

Farewell for 2023!

My final edition for 2023! I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in the Primary area of the school; we are so lucky to have a fabulous staff who have continued to support each other, share ideas and learn from each other to provide engaging programs according to the latest research for all our students.

The major focus has remained on strengthening our teaching of literacy, and it has been extremely exciting to see the improvements in student learning.

A big thank you to the parents and friends who have volunteered their time to assist with fruit and milo and the Stephanie Alexander program. To all parents who play a very important role in supporting all we do by encouraging reading at home and keeping students healthy. I would especially like to thank and congratulate our students who arrive at school each day, smiles on their faces, keen to learn. You are the reason we love our job!

Well done to our school captains, Anna and Oliver for their leadership this year, one major task left, to perform at our final assembly! To our year 6 students, on behalf of everyone in F-6 I wish you all the best in your secondary schooling.

Miss O’Callaghan has taken up a job closer to home, we wish her all the best at her new school. Lucinda will be leaving to study Speech Pathology. We wish her all the very best with her studies and hope we can tap into her skills again in the future. Have a fantastic holiday everyone and I will see you back in 2024!
