As class planning for 2025 continues, and as outlined in the last newsletter, a further reminder that any significant family requests regarding class placements should now have been submitted by email to peter.watson@education.vic.gov.au or to your child's class teacher.
Also, a continued reminder to please inform the school office if your family is not intending to return to Roberts McCubbin PS for the 2025 school year.
Congratulations to a range of high achieving Robbie Mac students, with a cavalcade of stars being recognised at assembly last week.
On the sporting front, congratulations to Jamie and Alice who both competed at the State Athletics event, with both girls achieving very impressive results - Jamie finishing 5th in high jump and Alice 7th in the 100 metres.
Jeremy and Jess from Year 3 also competed in a state event recently in gymnastics, congratulations Jeremy and Jess!
In maths and STEAM, we saw certificates presented to students who participated in a range of programs, including the High Ability Program, ICAS and the Maths Olympiad, with a large number of students achieving high level results.
In the ICAS competitions, a number of students achieved Distinction or Credit results; while in Maths Olympiad, our team finished in the top 10% of competing schools. Additionally, Dylan from Year 6 achieved a very impressive perfect score in the program.
Also featuring on the assembly stage were our Coding Challenge team, who competed valiantly in a very challenging competition run by the Mathematics Association of Victoria.
Finally, we again celebrated the success of our Design Thinking Challenge competitors, with Madeleine, Emily and Tori showing off some well-deserved medals in recognition of their 'Empathy Award'.
As per the Compass email from last week, we have all been deeply saddened by the tragic events at Auburn South Primary School.
This week, some staff from Roberts McCubbin PS have attended Auburn South PS to support their staff and students as they work towards recovering from the unimaginable challenges facing their community not just now but in the coming weeks and months.
The school and Department of Education have expressed their gratitude for the support of our school, and of other schools across our region, in their time of need.
In continuation of this support, I will be assisting the school from mid-Monday until mid-Wednesday next week, with Acting Assistant Principals Cameron Batt and Renae Greer in the school leadership position during these two days.
Thank you to our community of families for the empathy and support many of you have expressed in recent days.
Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our wonderful PFA, and of course the generosity of our school families and local community, we have recently taken delivery of a brand new projector.
We look forward to a brilliant clear image from our new projector at future school events, beginning with the 2024 Year Six Graduation Ceremony.
