Foundation:

In Foundation this term we have been working on our throwing and catching skills. We have been experimenting with a range of equipment including tennis balls, beanbags, pink volleyballs and softballs. Foundation students have been enjoying doing rotations of different activities including aiming for a target, throwing from a distance with a partner and many games to utilise the correct throwing and catching technique.

Years 1 and 2:

Year 1 and 2 students have been completing lessons on striking and fielding in Term 4. Students have been exposed to a range of different striking and fielding games including rapid fire tee ball and cricket. Students have enjoyed learning the correct striking technique and building their skills and knowledge each week.

Years 3 and 4:

Students in Year ¾ have completed a unit on invasion games this term, looking at one team invading another team’s territory or stealing from another team. It has been great to see students improve their teamwork, communication and strategising skills through a range of invasion games such as end ball, bucket ball, capture the flag.

Years 5 and 6:

Our senior students in ⅚ have completed their SEPEP unit (Sport Education in Physical Education Program), a program run completely by students. They are responsible for umpiring, training, scoring and their managing equipment. Teams have been playing a round robin basketball tournament and have had to work with their peers to run and plan their training sessions and games.

Congratulations to the following teams for winning their class’ SEPEP!

6LK: Team 5 (Zavier, Terence, Leila, Ellen and Ramona)

6SJ: Team 1 (Phoenix, Jayden , Sam, Alex G, Jeremy, Rico, An and Millie)

6HR: Team 3 (Mario, Jayden, Tom, Neive, Steph, Mia and Kaiko)

Year 5’s: Grand Finals still to be played

Swimming:

In Week 8, all students have been attending swimming lessons at Aquarena. Students have been placed in similar ability groups and been learning the correct swimming techniques, how to help someone in trouble in the water and playing many games. Students have been loving their lessons and learning how to be safe in the water.

Thank you to Mrs Reeve, Mrs N and Mr Wickham for all their planning and organising for swimming week and to all the classroom teachers and parent volunteers for assisting on the bus and at the pool!

Badminton Competition:

In Week 9 the Health Pillar will be running a Year ¾ and Year ⅚ Badminton Competition during Team Sport. We are looking forward to the competition and seeing which pair will be our badminton champions.
