On Friday afternoon students took part in the Cano Games, a fun-filled time designed to build rapport and strengthen friendships within home groups. The afternoon offered a mix of active, creative, and strategic challenges, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

On the sporting front, friendly matches of soccer, pickleball, and basketball brought plenty of energy and laughter, with students cheering each other on from the sidelines. For those who preferred a different pace, the chess boards were busy with intense but good-natured battles of strategy. The running events gave everyone the chance to test their speed, while the flag design competition and portrait drawing stations sparked creativity and artistic flair.

The variety of activities encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, and work together with classmates they may not normally spend time with. Throughout the day, it was clear that the focus wasn’t on winning, but on connecting, encouraging, and having fun.

By the end of the event, smiles, laughter, showed that the Cano Games had more than achieved their goal. It was a celebration of teamwork, creativity, and community spirit and will become a permanent fixture in the Year 9 calendar.
