AASCF Cheer and Dance Battle 

Over the weekend, Overnewton’s three Cheer teams and our Senior Dance group, competed at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation Battles Competition. 

Our Royals and Rays team competed in the Level 1 High School division taking out the 1st and 2nd place respectively. Our Angels team competed in the Level 1 Primary School division coming away with 2nd place. This was the first competition of the season and we are extremely excited to see what these team can do at the upcoming State and National Competitions later this year. 

Our Senior Dance group, Rubies, also showcased their talents in the High School Dance sections, coming away with 1st place! Congratulations to our senior girls team on this fantastic result!   

A huge congratulations to all these talented and dedicated students for their amazing performances. 

Zonal Chess Tournament 

Last week Overnewton sent two teams to the Victorian Zonal Chess Tournament. Students from Year 7-11 were involved in this very competitive tournament which consisted of 7 rounds, which made for a gruelling event.  

Both teams started positively and continued to pick up wins throughout the day, which left them vying for a position in the top 5. However, in the last two rounds our students were narrowly beaten in a number of matches which left them in 8th place, only 1.5 points from 4th place. It was a great experience for our students and one that will benefit them in preparations for future competitions. 

Congratulations to our Chess students on their performances and the way they represented the College.  

Cross Country  

Our ACS Cross Country squad has been working hard in preparation for the upcoming ACS Cross Country Championships, showing commitment and determination despite the recent cold mornings and chilly training conditions.  

We look forward to seeing all that hard work pay off when they take to the course at the Championships on August 22nd.

Student Venue Collection 

Parents who wish to collect their child direct from an ACS venue are required to complete the Venue Collection form which can be found via this link 

This link now appears on the Sport outlines provided via Compass each week. Parents must arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled bus departure time to ensure students can return on time to the College. In addition to this, parents are required to speak with the coach or team manger prior to leaving the venue.
