Year 8 Galilee Retreat

Year 8 students enjoyed the annual Galilee Retreat at Point Walter Reserve during Week 5 of Term 4. The Retreat was lead by Fr Michael Twigg OMI, Mr Damian Wallis and Miss Emily Wallis and took full advantage of the beautiful landscape surrounding the Swan River. It was a perfect location for an outdoors reflection and retreat day.

The Year 8 boys were joined by some Year 11 mentors and spent the day imagining that they were following in the footsteps of Christ as he journeyed around Lake Galilee. They walked around the lake (Point Walter) stopping at Capernaum, Bethsaida, Tiberias and Gennesaret, where they spent time pondering their own experiences of being called and loved unconditionally by God; of trusting in God when they’ve experienced the storms in their lives; and of exploring ways that they can serve God by serving others.

Galilee would not be possible without the generous support of the Year 11 leaders, the staff who presented the retreat and the teachers who supervised the students. In the relaxed environment of Point Walter and with the support of these staff and older students, the Galilee Retreat was able to offer the Year 8 students a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their lives and faith. Both staff and students came away feeling uplifted from a day of reflection.
