Mackellar Family Day Market - Garage Sale!

This Term grade 5's Inquiry topic is Economics and Business.

5A’s BIG QUESTION is 'How do we, as grade 5A students help ourselves, families and community in this difficult economic time?'

Students discussed what they were curious about, concerned about and wanted to create in relation to the Year 5 Curriculum Standard for Economics and Business.

All 5A students wanted to create their own business product to sell, to learn about what is involved in starting a small business as well as solving our BIG QUESTION!

As a result, teams of students are eagerly organising a GIANT GARAGE SALE for families to sell their pre-loved items to help generate some extra income for families,  buy some new sports uniforms, as well as making sure that all these items are put to good use rather than ending up in landfills.

Grade 5A are busy working in small groups creating a:

🍯MACKELLAR HONEY SHOP from our very own bees🐝

🍋LEMONADE STAND for thirsty buyers and sellers

🪴SUCCULENT and PLANT SHOP that were harvested by the grade from our previous Inquiry of Biological Science

Year 5’s are so excited about their learning and cannot wait for Tuesday 17th of December to see how all their hard work helps ourselves, families and community!
