Sports Club and Hot Wheels Club
In addition Mackellar's great Cheerleading Club that is facilitated by one of our parents, Liz Reffke, another fantastic parent-led club is the Sport Club, led by Rod Carpenter.
Rod's club has been very popular from the start with many excited students lining up at the gym door ready for sport! The activities focus on team-building as well as developing individual skills. Rod outlined the sessions for us...
"The children had loads of fun across the 3 sessions learning new skills along the way. For the first session I had 50 children which was a surprise for a big turn out, the group was made up of preps, grade 1's and grade 2's. The group practised marking, picking up the ball and kicking goals. The second session included obstacle courses and goal kicking. The last session we started with a obstacle course and once the children went through a few times we moved on to bouncing the ball. The children lined up in 5 groups and touched the ball on the floor a few times making their way to the other side and then hand-balled to the person standing in the front of the line. We finished off our last in groups of 13 kicking goals."
We are extremely grateful to Rob for generously giving his time to our Clubs program at Mackell! THANK YOU, ROD!
Furthermore, we would like to congratulate Alexander from 3A for initiating and facilitating the Hot Wheels Club which is a huge success.
"I had no idea just how popular the club would be! I can't believe it! I am so happy that I've been able to achieve this with Mr. McGlade's permission and I'm looking forward to running the club next year," Alexander said.
Here's Alexander kindly sharing his spare hot wheel cars, tracks and tunnels with anyone who attends. How generous is that! THANK YOU, ALEXANDER!
Kind Regards,
