What is Happening in Science

Term 4 is now coming to a close with lots of activities in Science.

Year 10 Science students had a busy start to the term with two excursions. Firstly, a Psychology experience where they participate and carry out a research investigation on how the use of technology affects our brain and hence, physiology.  They had lots of hands-on experience with virtual reality.

Then students were given the opportunity to test CSI Scoresby skills with a Forensic Science workshop at KIOSC.  Students took on the role of forensic investigators, delving into a complex homicide case.

By examining a variety of evidence, including fingerprints, crime scene photos, and suspect interviews, students had the opportunity to test their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Through hands-on activities in both field operations and laboratory settings, they got a deeper understanding of the scientific methods used to collect, analyse, and interpret evidence.

Meanwhile our Year 7 students were exposed to new and emerging technologies for the jobs of the future with various digital technologies at KIOSC.  The program explored the use automation and smart technologies. Students were introduced to a logistical process where a customer orders from a supermarket.
