Junior School Report
What is happening in Junior School
Our wonderful students have been very busy since we last spoke and I can’t wait to share what they have been up to with you, plus a few exciting things coming in the near future.
Year 7
Our Year 7 students had a glorious excursion down to our great friends at the KIOSC to conduct an investigation on what automated grocery delivery might look like in the future and to learn how to program certain devices to make those deliveries without any human intervention. It was a real insight into what their lives might be when they leave school and begin working full time. The world is their oyster and the great people at KIOSC are always ensuring our students have the necessary info to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Year 8
Year 8 students have been exploring a variety of things across their subjects. They are also at the pointy end of their ‘junior school’ experience as they have made their subject selections and eagerly awaiting the announcement of what they will get to study next year as part of their first subject selection experience. It’s a very exciting albeit nerve wracking experience.
Year 9
For Year 9 students they have spent a lot of time over the last few weeks preparing for their glorious city experience which was held on the Monday 11 November - Friday 15 November.
The students completed background research on the places they were to visit and completed all the safety inductions required for a trip of this nature. It was a very exciting and enjoyable time for them.
Celebration Day
Our celebration day scheduled for Thursday
12 December at Gumbuya World, is fast approaching and our students have already started buzzing about how much fun it is going to be.
There are other things in the pipeline at the moment to make that last week a great send off
to a great year so keep your eyes peeled on compass and your emails for updates.

Year 9 Golf
This term, our Year 9 students have taken their Physical Education class to the greens with an engaging unit on golf! In this hands-on unit, students have not only explored the fundamentals of golf but have also practised a range of techniques to build their skills and confidence in the sport.
Throughout the unit, they have delved into the details of each stroke, from the putt and chip to the full swing, developing an appreciation for the precision and strategy required in golf.
Our budding golfers started by learning about the mechanics behind each stroke, including grip, stance, and swing technique. With each lesson, students honed their abilities through practice, working individually and in pairs to provide each other with constructive feedback and fine-tune their movements.
This focus on skill acquisition has helped students improve their accuracy, coordination, and patience—all essential components in golf.
The unit’s grand finale will be an exciting and creative assessment: each student will design their very own mini golf hole! This task challenges students to combine their understanding of golf strokes with creativity, as they craft a fun and playable hole that their classmates can attempt to complete. By constructing and presenting their mini golf holes, students will also explore concepts of course design and the ways in which obstacles and layouts affect play.
Students will have the opportunity to experience each other's creations in a friendly class competition, where they can put their newfound golf skills to the test and celebrate their achievements together. This unique assessment not only highlights students' technical knowledge but also promotes teamwork, problem-solving, and a touch of friendly rivalry!
We are incredibly proud of the effort and enthusiasm Year 9 has shown in embracing this unit, and we look forward to seeing the fantastic mini golf course they create!
