Assistant Principal Report

Year 12 Celebration Day

I am delighted to share some more positive news since our last newsletter.

One of the most memorable highlights was our Year 12 “Celebration Day,” marking the final day of school for our Year 12 students.

Traditionally known as “Muck-up Day,” this occasion was transformed into a respectful celebration of their 13 years of education. The day concluded with a meaningful final assembly that truly encapsulated their journey.

The assembly was a remarkable event, attended by many supportive parents. We were treated to an enchanting cultural dance performance choreographed by Iasinta Faasoo Aiolupotea and Susitina Von Heiderbrandt, featuring talented dancers: Iasinta Faasoo Aiolupotea, Susitina Von Heiderbrandt Abraham Aiolupotea, Renata Kavamoungaone, and Taliauli Kavamoungaone.

Additionally, Josh Davies, a key figure in our music program, delivered a memorable performance, accompanied by Wesley Ferdinands, Jacob Long, and Aaron Carter, with an impressive rendition of “Paranoid” by Black Sabbath.

The event concluded with each Year 12 student being presented to the audience. They shared their achievements and future aspirations and ultimately received a heartfelt standing ovation as they bid farewell to the school.

Our Year 12 students have now completed their  final examinations. It is inspiring to see our students committed to studying even when not in exams. We were pleased to see strong participation in the many Year 12 revision classes offered.

In addition to our student achievements, I am pleased to announce that we have completed a school-wide upgrade of our classroom lighting over the past two weeks. Utilising government incentives, we have replaced all classroom lights with state-of-the-art LED fixtures. This upgrade brightens our classrooms and enhances energy efficiency, benefiting our entire school community.

Our Year 10 and Year 11 students have also just undertaken their end-of-year examinations before moving into our “Launch Program,” which sees all our Year 10 and Year 11 students commence classes focusing on their subject choices for 2025.

Finally, I would like to share some of the wonderful collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving of our Vocational Major (VM) class as they adopted the “Halloween Spirit.” Under the careful guidance of Mr Tom Sharkie, our students carved their very own Halloween pumpkins.

Save the Date - Orion Night – Thursday 12 December 2024 6pm

This event holds significant importance on our calendar, allowing us to celebrate our students' academic and co-curricular achievements. Additionally, the evening will feature some outstanding student-led musical performances for everyone to enjoy.
