A huge thank you to everyone who came to Christmas Carols last night! It was my first Carols at Yarra Road, and I was truly amazed by the incredible support from our community. Our community spirit shone brightly as we celebrated a wonderful year together. A special thanks to our incredible staff for going above and beyond to make the night such a success. Thank you all!
Well... as I write my last newsletter piece, I’m met with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and sadness that my time at Yarra Road is coming to an end, however, an equal sense of excitement about the opportunity that awaits me.
It has been an amazing run at Yarra Road, and memories that I will hold dear forever. We’ve had incredible successes during my time, including 3 State Championships, 3 Silver Medals, a Bronze Medal and many, many teams who just missed out on medals at Hoop Time and SSV Basketball days. I’ve made lifelong friends and relationships that will continue even though I won’t be here anymore. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey at Yarra Road! I’ll miss you all.
That's enough about me though, as we had some more incredible exciting times in the past week. Swimming week was a huge hit, with all the students who participated performing really well!
But, if you haven’t heard about our Year 4 Hoop Time team, then listen up! Did they have a Hoop Time experience to remember this year! In the first round, they lost the Grand Final by 1 point on a buzzer beater. However, due to the close result, received a wildcard entry to the Regional Finals! In those regional finals, after playing so well all day, made the grand final only to lose by 1 point, AGAIN, to the same team as the first round! But… you won’t believe it, they received a second wildcard entry to the State Finals due to the close results! Then… in the State Finals, they were incredible! Making the most of their opportunity, they made it all the way to the State Championship game! After playing so well as a team the entire day, fatigue was their biggest enemy in the final. As the team was beaten by a very good Jells Park outfit. But what an unbelievable achievement given the run of wild cards they had. SILVER MEDALISTS in the state out of 220 teams who started the year! So to: Tobi, Hunter, Ethan, Jye, Arthur, Cruze, Noah, and Isla, a huge congratulations goes to you! We are so proud of you and not only the result, but the resilience and courage it took to get to where you did. Well done team!
That’s a wrap everyone. Thank you and I’ll simply leave you with not good bye, but bye for now.
With their Christmas wonderland complete, students are now feeling ready to step up and embark on new adventures. Reflecting on all they’ve accomplished in 2024, they’re excited and confident about the challenges and opportunities that await them in 2025. From honing their artistic skills to exploring fresh creative projects, our students are eager to take the next steps in their journey. It’s been a fantastic year, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll achieve in the future!
Thank you to everyone who came to the art show yesterday before heading down to Christmas Carols. It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout! A special thank you to my amazing helpers and to Mrs. Hurley for your incredible support in setting up and for taking over Art while I was on long service leave, I truly appreciate it. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
