Year 5 & 6
Around our level
To wrap up the year we asked the students to write about a particular highlight. It is so pleasing to read the variety in their responses. Here is a list of highlights as we are unable to include everyone’s thoughts - Captain’s Day, Camp, Prep buddy activities, Inter-school Sport, Athletics Day, Cross Country, Olympics Day, Production, Hooptime, Footy Day, Colour Run, Swimming Week, Christmas Concert, and the preparations for the 5/6 Bazaar. If the newsletter came out next week, I’m sure MSAC and Graduation would also get a mention.

My highlight as a Year Six student has been my captaincy role! I'm a vice captain, and I find it so special how I get to be involved in so many different activities. Being able to speak at assembly and give out awards with the other school captains is very special to me. I'm super honoured that I got to experience such an important job and role model. Some of my highlights from this role are: Assemblies, Captaincy Days, helping with prep transitions, and something really fun - the Christmas Concert. This was a massive highlight as Levi and I got to narrate the whole night. I'm so thankful for getting chosen to be in this role.

This year was very fun because I got to become a big buddy and look after two little prep buddies. I also liked the colour run because I got to do it with my buddies. Camp was really fun because I really liked the giant swing, the food, and also being able to spend time with my friends.

The color run was my favorite activity in all of 2024. I loved getting colored in powder and stuff. The fun bit was when they got ice bucketed. I got to run with my friends and we got really colorful.

My highlight for this year has got to be making stuff for this year’s Bazaar. It has been so much fun, especially making the baubles.

Some of my highlights of the year: Hooptime, Gala Day and I am really excited for the bazaar. I liked hooptime because I got to play lots of basketball and the same for the Gala Day but for the bazaar I am excited to sell my products. I have had lots of highlights in 2024!

My favourite highlight this year was interschool when I played footy for the first time and I scored 2 goals in the last game. I remember when I marked the ball on the side line and I was pretty far out and everyone on my team was telling me to go for the goal. So I held the footy like a torp then I smacked the footy with my left foot and it was spinning like a torp. When it reached the goals, it almost smacked the post and then the umpire called it a goal. Everyone on my team was jumping on top of me and my dad was shocked.

These are 4 of my highlights of the year:
1) I love making items for the Bazaar. It's so fun and enjoyable.
2) This year's colour run was really fun. I got to run with my friend because my buddy wasn't doing it.
3) This year's production was a blast because I had a role!
4) I loved camp this year. We were at Oasis Camp. The food and activities were out of this world!

One of my favourite things this year was our 5/6 camp to Oasis. I really enjoyed all of the activities and I had a great cabin. My favourite activity was definitely the giant swing and the zip line. The food was amazing; I'm usually a picky eater and I ate almost everything. There was so much cool wildlife and I could see straight out to the pool from my window, it even glowed at night.

Cross Country was a highlight for me this year, I not only won a medal but I made it to district and then division. This was my first time going to divisional cross country. I had so much fun and I even made a friend there, I didn't make it to regionals but that's okay. I might have a better chance at getting to regionals next year. And that's my highlight of the year.

The highlight for me this year was our school production: Zoom! I was the main role; Harvey Hare, and it was just so much fun going on the stage and acting out my character. Even though I wasn't feeling that well, I went out there and tried my best, and I was really proud of myself. I loved this year's production because it was a story that I was already familiar with; The Hare and The Tortoise. I understood the context, and how I should act out my character. One of the best parts was that Violet, my best friend, was my dad in the production. She was Harold Hare, and she was really into golf, which was so hilarious. I had a lot of fun, and I am glad that I was able to go up there on stage and perform. I was acting with my friends, and that made the experience a whole lot more enjoyable, and I felt proud that my family and friends were there to support me, and overall, it was the best production so far!

I really enjoyed camp this year when we went to Oasis. It was so different to any other camp I've gone on and I was constantly having fun. There were so many activities and I loved the set out of our cabins. My favourite thing there was the giant swing or the high ropes. They were both very scary but so much fun to participate in. I would go back to Oasis any time. I also loved being the school captain this year because there was so much I got to do and it was so fun. I'm going to miss being school captain and miss my teacher and class but mostly I'll miss this school.

My highlights are: our camp to Oasis, interschool sport, swimming week and the Olympics Day. We have had so many fun memories this year. It was fun to pass through the colour run with our buddy, reading out our captaincy speech, the production, athletics, I could go on and on about all the fun stuff we did this year. Also Footy Day!
