Brigidine Campus News

Welcome to Step Up

Stepping up to new challenges and finishing the year strong are essential for personal growth and success. Students at the Brigidine Campus are in the midst of the Step Up Program in preparation for 2025. I would like to take this opportunity to thank families, students and staff who have been involved in phone conferences and in-person meetings to discuss future plans and expectations. By fostering a partnership built on mutual respect and shared responsibility, schools and families can help students thrive both now and in the future.

Students were involved in year level assemblies this week which outlined our College expectations. As a group we discussed the concept of Begining as you mean to go on including:

  • What does that mean for us as a group and as individuals?
  • How do we start well?
  • What are the CPR (consistent , predictable, routines) that we want to start with?
  • Opportunity to be a role model
  • Opportunity to be a positive learner
  • Opportunity to be future-focused about what your education can mean for you

With opportunity comes responsibility - and this looks like the following….

St Joseph’s College expects that: Teachers are teaching and students are learning.

Teachers' role in this: teachers expectations will be high and will remain so moving forward.

Students' role in this: you too need to raise your expectations of what learning at St Joseph’s looks like and understand the outcome when this is not met.

What this looks like at St Joseph’s:

  • Arriving to school and class before the second bell
  • Lining up outside the room
  • Seating plan in your classrooms
  • Listening during teacher instruction
  • Following instructions given to you
  • Collaborating with your peers
  • Completing work to the best of your ability
  • Reaching for the stars!

Attendance

  • 100% attendance expected during Step Up (90% ongoing as a part of our Promotions Policy)
  • Medical certificate required if missing VCE classes
  • During study periods students must sign in at the library and stay in the library
  • If you are late to school, you must sign in at Student Services

Organisation

  • Everything on the booklist needs to have been purchased and brought to class
  • Laptop fully charged
  • Your learning is your responsibility
  • All required equipment for each class
  • Checking your emails regularly for communication from teachers
  • Checking compass regularly
  • Checking compass if you miss a class and catch up on the work
