Celebrating Learning

The last few weeks have taken us on a journey into poetry. We have been reading, writing and experiencing different types of poems. The combination of ancient fairy tales and poetry has led to some rich learning experiences and lots of fun for everyone. They have also been spending lots of time working on illustrating their writing. Spending time adding detail and creating finished images. 

In maths we have been learning about different problem-solving strategies. This has enabled the kids to practise reading questions, slow down and use different tools and techniques to solve problems, often in many different ways. We have been also looking at partitioning (breaking) shapes into equal parts (fractions). The most fun was had when they had to create shapes out of tangrams which they could break into halves or quarters or any fraction they knew.
