Celebrating Learning

Term 4, Week 7

Term 4 is so exciting! Here’s some of what’s been happening….we welcome another new student - welcome Zev! How much fun was the colour run? Our firefighter follow-up visit was perfectly timed, with our students cooling down yesterday and having so much fun!

Literacy

Fluency pairs continue each morning - thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, your effort makes a difference in our classroom!

Students continue to read, write, and spell and this week are focussing on suffix -s.

Students continue the process of drafting and publishing their fiction or non-fiction books.

Numeracy

In number, students use manipulatives and draw maths problems to explore how two collections can be compared and then made equal by adding or removing items.

We finish off our mapping unit and now move onto measurement and revising time through story and song and sequencing time by connecting everyday events to their ever-growing vocabulary.

Outdoor Play-Based Learning (PBL)

We have been looking at our sense of belonging and home and what home means to us. What do you do in your home? We have been discussing people, pets, foods, and routines in our homes and comparing what is the same? What is different?

This discussion prompted the question - what do you like to do in your home - what games do you play - who with?

Sharing games highlighted some of the cultures represented in our class and with curiosity students proudly discussed games children play from their cultures.

Students were curious to engage in Nour’s Algerian game, Bakara

It was so lovely to observe students respect the game and the parameters and the rules of their play.

Warmly
