Mathematics

Number & Algebra   I   Measurement & Geometry   I   Statistics & Probability

In Mathematics this term children will concentrate on matching collections to numbers and comparing, sequencing and ordering numbers 0 to 9. They will practice counting backwards and forwards and count using 1:1 correspondence. Children will then establish an understanding of ten as a new unit composed of ten and the ones. This forms the basis of our base 10 number system and sets the children up for success in all other areas of Mathematics. Children will play many counting and number games and solve problems using materials. We will also be collecting and sorting data, creating graphs

and answering simple questions about the data. Children will also be involved in making patterns and learning about shapes and location.

Students will have access to the Matific Platform which is a collection of interactive math games and activities which works alongside side the Mathematics Curriculum. This will provide further opportunities for students to build a conceptual understanding of various foundational skills. The students will have the ability to utilise the Matific platform at school and at home. For more information please see the Matific website. Logins will also be sent home in the coming weeks.
