Principal Team Update

Hi BPS families,

We had a fabulous time at last week's BPS Family Fun Night. Thank you for coming along and enjoying the opportunity for the community to come together early on in the school year.

Our Year 6 students had an excellent time on Camp down the Peninsula. The weather lent itself to the water activities and it sounds like all of our students immersed themselves in the experience and all that camp had to offer. Thank you to our staff and parents who attended the camp, supporting and overseeing a huge array of activities to ensure it was a positive experience for all. We greatly appreciate everyone's time, effort and care.

Parents & Friends has kicked off for the year, with the first meeting held last Friday. Thank you for joining if you could come along! There were a range of ideas shared during the brainstorm. These will be collated by Parents & Friends, with more information to come! The next Parents & Friends meeting for the term will be on Tuesday 18th March at 9:10am in the staffroom. A huge thank you to two BPS parents, Lara and Gillian, for leading this group. Parents & Friends focuses on building community through social connections, events, and fundraising. We look forward to seeing what our BPS parents bring to life through this lens this year.

All classes have been sent an email of the Class Email Contact List if you opted in to your email being shared. If you would like to share you contact number with your Class Representative, please text them with your name. It is up to you if you would like to share this information, we won't be sharing any personal details. If you didn't opt in to sharing your email but would like to, please let your Class Rep know and they can update the Class Email Contact List. We are still after Class Reps for 2P and 4M. Please let us know if you would like to take this on.

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Open Afternoon on Friday. We hope you enjoyed the time with your child in their classroom. Our next Open Afternoon for the term will be on Friday 21st March. There will be two per term. This Friday 28th February we welcome families to join us for our Whole School Assembly. This is held outside, under the blue shade cloths, and commences at 3pm. A reminder that assemblies will run fortnightly. Please find the dates on the Term Calendar.

Thank you for your support regarding the school closing the gates. This decision was not made lightly, and is the result of ongoing issues we've faced for a long period of time. Ensuring the safety, and upkeep, of our grounds for when our student's arrive at school is of high priority. We are working with the Department of Education around our security to ensure our students have a safe and happy place to come to school each day. This was the first weekend in a while where we haven't had any damage, broken glass, the police or Department of Education security on site.

Next week will be our Prep students' first full week of school. We are so proud of how well they are settling in and getting to know their teachers and class members. A huge shout out to their parents and carers, too. We recognise this is a big transition for the whole family and the support they receive from you goes a long way towards contributing to their positive start!

Enjoy your week.
