Assistant Principal Report Senior School

It's been a positive start to the 2025 academic year, and I'm delighted to share some of the highlights that have made these first few weeks so successful.
Our students have settled into their routines quickly and have now faced the first round of assessments. These assessments are crucial in setting the academic pace for the year and helping students identify their strengths and areas for improvement. We are incredibly proud of the effort and dedication displayed by all students during this period. Our Year 12 jumpers - which designed last year - have also arrived and look fabulous.
VALENTINES DAY
Our student leaders decorated the school in red and pink to celebrate Valentines Day. The walls of the school were adorned in streamers and ballons, together with special messages that reminded us to look after ourselves and others. Thanks to the staff and students who have helped the school feel extra special on the 14th of February.
HOUSE SWIMMING
One of the most vibrant events of the term has undoubtedly been our annual Swimming Sports. Beyond the traditional races, we were treated to some truly memorable moments. Whilst the diving competition showcased some rather questionable attempts, the fancy dress segment was a riot of colour and creativity, demonstrating the fantastic sense of fun and community that defines Parkdale. Congratulations to all participants and to the House teams for their spirited competition!
STUDENT LEADERSHIP
We recently held a training afternoon for our student leaders, designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to lead effectively. A particular highlight was the masterclass on public speaking, which provided invaluable insights into confident and engaging communication. Our student leaders are now well-prepared to represent their peers and contribute positively to our school community. Upcoming events featuring our leaders include International Women’s Day, Open Night and Share the Dignity.
PARENT INFORMATION NIGHTS
We’ve been delighted to welcome many parents to our recent information nights for Years 10, 11, and 12. These evenings provided an opportunity to share important information about curriculum, assessment, and pathways, and to answer any questions parents had about their child’s senior years. We appreciate the strong partnership between home and school, and we look forward to continuing to work together to support our students’ success.
TOP CLASS 2025
Congratulations to Kabir Mahanty (Class of 2024) who has been selected to present his monologue in the Top Class - Theatre Studies VCE School of Excellence concert series. We are so proud of Kabir’s incredible achievement and our senior theatre studies students are looking forward to viewing his monologue on Tuesday 11th March.
