Acting Principal

Kim Fitzpatrick

I had the opportunity to visit the Chinese celebrations undertaken by the Primary students last Friday, and enjoyed partaking in some of the activities. The students are really very lucky to gain these experiences and they really enjoyed them. A big well done to Kim for all her organisation, and thanks to Penny who was present to assist with the tasty spring rolls.

At School Council on Monday night, we had great attendance. School Captains, Fletcher and Emmersyn were present for their first meeting. It is important that students have a voice in this environment. Some really fruitful discussions took place. We will be looking to gain ideas on beautifying the grounds. We will be gaining input from students and parents to do this. If you are interested in being involved, keep your eye out. The next Council meeting will be the AGM on March 17.

Monday Charlton College had a team of 20 student compete at the North Central District Swimming Carnival. It was pleasing to hear that all swimmers swam well, and were positive representatives for the College. Well done to all swimmers and thanks to Rhys, Ebony and Angus who attended to support the students and undertake duties throughout the day. A big congratulations to Heidi and Stella who both won their respective age group championship.

Tuesday our first SWPBS Team meeting for the team was held. It is fantastic to have a greater representation from students in this group this year. They all contributed positively in the meeting. Please refer to the relevant section in the Bulletin for more information.

I attended the Year 10 introductory Work Experience meeting last night. Thanks to all the parents and students who attended. Aside from attending Work Experience, the students are involved in fundraising throughout the year, which builds beneficial work and life skills. This group will be catering and waiting this weekend for the Ok Motels event. They may even speak to people who can offer them a work placement!

Safely Dropping Off and Picking Up students

We ask that parents use the carparks to drop off and pick students up from. Please avoid pulling up roadside or in the bus space, to keep our students safe.

It’s Not OK to be Away

Attending school on a regular basis is vital for all students in Foundation to Grade 6 so that they can access all they need to learn throughout their 7 years of primary schooling.

Benefits of Regular School Attendance for Students:

  • The development of skills and attitudes such as self-discipline, punctuality, and being organised will optimise life choices
  • Regular attendance leads to making friends and learning how to maintain relationships over a length of time
  • Regular attendance leads to learning social skills necessary to live and work with others
  • The more students attend, the more they will learn and the more they will like school.
