Year 5/6 Newsletter

Dear Year 5/6 Parents,
Welcome to a fantastic new school year at Eltham North Primary School! We are excited to have your children in Year 5/6 and look forward to an engaging and rewarding year ahead.
The students have had a great start to the year, forming strong connections with their peers and teachers. They have especially enjoyed competing in their tribes in our exciting Survivor challenges, where they have showcased their creativity and teamwork. Activities such as designing unique tribe flags and testing their engineering skills to create the furthest-traveling paper plane have been highlights of the past few weeks.
In the classroom, we have been focusing on persuasive writing in English and place value in Maths, engaging students in meaningful learning experiences that challenge and extend their thinking.
A few important reminders:
- PST Conferences: Parent-Student-Teacher conferences are coming up on the 13th of February. Please ensure you book a time to meet with your child’s teacher.
- Swimming Program: Please ensure you send in the Strokes Note for swimming. This is separate from the permission granted on Compass, which also needs to be completed.
- Year 6 Camp: If your child is in Year 6, please return the medical camp forms as soon as possible to ensure their participation.
- Inquiry migration story project: Students have received a project that is due at the end of Week 5. They are required to interview someone on their migration to Australia and present it to the class. Students have a hard copy of the project outline and it can also be found on Google Classroom.
Thank you for your support in making this a smooth and enjoyable start to the school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher.
We look forward to a wonderful year ahead with your children!
Warm regards,
Year 5/6 Teaching Team
