ONLINE SAFETY

eSafety Commissioner
The eSafety Commissioner recently published an article (linked below) discussing how to protect children against cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying and the back-to-school surge: How we can protect our kids
The eSafety Commissioner also has useful information and resources for parents on their website.
Each term they host live webinars to give parents and carers the knowledge, skills and tools to support their children to have safe online experiences.
How can parents and carers help?
Keep the conversation open: two thirds of young people turn to parents when something goes wrong online.
- Avoid taking away their devices: this can make them feel more isolated.
- Show them how to collect evidence and report abuse.
- If the platform doesn’t help, report to eSafety for extra support.
- Encourage them to seek help from services like Kids Helpline Official.
Together, we can equip young people with the skills to thrive online while staying safe. Read on for more insights and tips.
