Start of the Year
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2025! We've hit the ground running with an array of exciting activities and learning experiences. Let's dive into the wonderful world of Year 5!
Kicking Off with Kindness: Wellbeing Fortnight
We began our term with a fantastic Wellbeing Fortnight, filled with engaging "getting to know you" activities. Our classroom has been buzzing with laughter and new friendships as we set the stage for a year of growth and positivity.
Responsibility Rocks!
Some of our eager beavers have taken on the important role of "Bin Guardians." These responsible students ensure our bins are out in the morning and safely returned after lunch (we even have bin C.E.O.S to make sure it all runs smoothly. It's amazing to see our young leaders stepping up!
Maths Marvels
In mathematics, we've been exploring the fascinating world of place value and engaging in thrilling number talks. Our classroom has been transformed into a hub of mathematical discovery, with students unravelling the mysteries of numbers with gusto!
Literacy Legends
Our budding authors have been flexing their persuasive muscles, diving deep into the art of persuasive writing. We're also exploring the 6+1 Writing Traits, unlocking the secrets to becoming master wordsmiths. Watch out, world – the next generation of influential writers is in the making!
Inquiry: Who We Are
Our central idea, "Different perspectives influence the way people treat each other," has sparked fascinating discussions about perspective, stereotypes, and gender bias. Our young minds are expanding their understanding of the world and learning to appreciate diverse viewpoints.
Cyber Safety Superstars
We were fortunate to have an eye-opening Cyber Safety incursion that equipped our students with essential digital wellbeing skills. Some key takeaways include:
