First Aid Report
Hay Fever & Asthma
Spring is here, and with it comes higher pollen levels. Many people are experiencing hay fever symptoms such as:
- Itchy throat or ears
- Runny nose
- Sneezing
- Watery or itchy eyes
For some people, hay fever can cause more severe symptoms, including headaches, tiredness and difficulty breathing. These symptoms can sometimes feel similar to asthma.
Sickbay has already seen several students with hay fever symptoms.
If you would like your child to have medication at school to help relieve their hay fever symptoms, please complete the Medication Authority Form . Please then provide the medication to the school office or Sickbay.
Alternatively, you can give your child an antihistamine before they arrive at school.
Seasonal Asthma
Some children may experience asthma-like symptoms during spring because of allergies.
If your child has not been diagnosed with asthma by a family doctor but has previously used asthma medication due seasonal allergies, please complete a Medication Authority Form and provide the school office / sickbay with your preferred asthma medication (Ventolin/Asmol). This will allow your child to use it at school if needed during the pollen season.

Lost Property
Our lost property bins are currently overflowing with a variety of items, including non-school jackets, raincoats, school jackets, hats, lunchboxes, drink bottles, hair accessories, and other unnamed or poorly labelled belongings.
The lost property boxes can be found at the entrance of the gymnasium and in the main school building near the staff restrooms. We encourage you to check these locations either before or after school to retrieve any lost items belonging to your child.
Additionally, when purchasing new or second-hand school clothing, lunchboxes, and drink bottles, please ensure that they are clearly labelled with your child's first and last name to aid in their return if lost.
Loaned Clothing
We kindly ask for your assistance in returning any school clothing that may have been borrowed from the sickbay due to unforeseen incidents such as spills, wet areas, or toileting mishaps.
If your child arrives home wearing these loaned items, we would greatly appreciate it if you could wash them and return them to the sickbay at your earliest convenience.
Currently, we are experiencing a shortage of small-sized clothing suitable for our younger students, and your cooperation will help ensure we can continue to provide the necessary support for all children in need.

Donations
Donations of clothes and tissue boxes are very welcome for the school's sickbay.
Student Medication
If your child requires prescription medication at school, a medication authority form must be completed as per the attachment below, or a copy can be collected from the school office.
Medication must be in its original packaging with the pharmacy label, including the child’s name, attached.
If your child has a medical condition and requires ongoing medication, a general medical advice form (WHPS Medication Authority Form) must be completed in consultation with your family doctor or paediatrician.
