Weeding Wednesday
Last week, the Grade 3 classes and this week, the Grade 2’s, braved the cold and weeded parts of our school. Thank you to all the students who helped to make our school garden beds weeded; you all did a great job. It looks like you had a lot of fun.
Weeding Wednesday occurs each week on Wednesday afternoons, and each grade level has their own week scheduled for the rest of the year. If any family members would like to join your child’s year level, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Next week (Week 7) will be the Grade 1 students' turn, and Week 8 will be our Foundation classes’. Weeding Wednesday sessions are mainly held in the afternoon after lunch, starting at 2 pm.
Sustainability Group Leaders
Our Sustainability Group Leaders have been busy organising waste related activities as a prize for the class that won this year’s Nude food competition. The winners, 3C (Marie and Clare), were treated to games such as ‘Basketbinball’ and a recycling relay. They also learnt to make their own seedling pot out of newspaper and planted a capsicum seed.
Thank you to all the fabulous Sustainability leaders who showed great leadership, creativity, enthusiasm and knowledge to make a fun learning session for the Grade 3 students. Well done, team!
Our Sustainability Morning

On Tuesday, the 18th of August, our class, 3C, got to play some fun sustainability games! We won the Nude Food Competition at our school, so our prize was a special sustainability morning. We were all very excited because we love surprises and we did not know what our prize was going to be!
First, we played games outside with the sustainability groups. In the first game, we got into equal teams and had to throw a ball into rubbish bins. Every time we got the ball into the bin, our team got a point.
The next game was a relay race. We had to run to a pile of rubbish and sort it into the correct bin. We had to decide whether it belonged in the compost bin, recycling bin or landfill bin. It was lots of fun running around and learning how to sort rubbish properly.
Another exciting part of the morning was planting capsicum seeds. We each got a can and used scraps of magazines and newspapers to cover the bottom. Then we added some dirt and planted our capsicum seeds. We got to take our little plants home so we can look after them and water them.
We had so much fun with the sustainability group and Toby. We did not really care whether we won the games or not. The best part was being outside, having fun with our classmates and learning how we can help our planet!
