Wellbeing News

As part of our ongoing focus on student wellbeing, students in Years 3–6 have been completing a short wellbeing survey each fortnight. These surveys give students a regular opportunity to tell us how they are feeling, how things are going socially and at school, and whether they would like some additional support.
When comparing our Term 2 and Term 3 results, we can see some positive changes across the Years 3–6 cohort. The number of students reporting high energy for learning has increased from 48% to 60%, and around three-quarters of students describe feeling calm or excited about being at school. Friendship experiences have also improved, with 83% of students reporting no friendship difficulties, compared with 78% in Term 2. One of the most important findings is that around 9 in 10 students can identify a trusted adult at school they would feel comfortable approaching if something was wrong.
Our surveys also help us identify areas where we can focus on implementing further supports; for example, when friendship difficulties are reported, they are most often occurring during less structured times such as recess and lunch.
Most importantly, these surveys are not simply about collecting data, they provide students with a regular and accessible way to request a check-in, share a concern and seek support, allowing our staff to respond early and continue shaping our wellbeing supports around the needs of our students.
