Leader of Pedagogy & Literacy Coach

As part of our professional learning, teachers are part of cross-curricular Professional Learning Teams (PLT). Teachers from different faculty areas form a team to support each other and work in a cycle of “Collaborative Inquiry”. This involves teams examining a learning need in their classroom, researching and implementing high-impact strategies, receiving and applying feedback and evaluating the impact on student learning before identifying the next stage in their cycle of professional learning.

Each PLT has been focusing on literacy strategies within their own context. Staff have explored the explicit instruction of sentences and paragraphing across a variety of year groups and subjects, applying feedback and recording student growth after literacy intervention strategies. As term three is coming to an end, staff have had the opportunity to present their action research projects to all teachers at a combined staff meeting. It was exciting to hear staff celebrating their success, visualising student data and sharing resources. This process of collaborative inquiry will continue into term 4, with a focus on another high-impact strategy.
