Joke of the Week
A burglar broke into a house one night. He shone his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said,
'Jesus knows you're here.'
He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze.
When he heard nothing more , after a bit, he shook his head and continued.
Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires,
clear as a bell he heard 'Jesus is watching you.'
Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice.
Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.
'Did you say that?' he hissed at the parrot.
'Yep', the parrot confessed, then squawked,
'I'm just trying to warn you that he is watching you.'
The burglar relaxed. 'Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?'
'Moses,' replied the bird.
'Moses?' the burglar laughed. 'What kind of people would name a bird Moses?'
'The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.'
Footy Colours Day & Tiwi Islands Fundraiser
On Wednesday 13th September, we will be celebrating our Footy Colours Day where children can come to school dressed in their team's colours. We are going to combine this with a special fundraiser for the Tiwi Islands, specifically for the restoration of the 82 year old church on Bathurst Island. Between now and Wednesday 13th September, we are asking you to collect as many coins as you can, and we are going to aim to fill a large football which will be drawn on the playground. We will then collect all the coins, and make a donation to Wurrumiyanga Catholic Parish on Bathurst Island to help them restore their church.
The SAC will also be arranging a special Footy Hot Dog lunch. Children can order:
Hot Dog Lunch - $7 for a hot Dog, apple/orange juice and a chocolate chip mini muffin bar (extra hot dogs $4).
Please place your orders on CDFpay. Orders close on Monday 11th September, 3pm.
Swimming Program and Working With Children Checks
Next term all students will be participating in the annual swimming program at Swimworld Glen Waverley. Swimming will take place every Thursday for the first 8 weeks of term 4 (Thursday 5th October - Thursday 23rd November)
The swimming program is one that cannot run effectively without the invaluable assistance of parent helpers. Please refer to the Operoo form for additional details of the program and please indicate on this form if you are able to assist. It would be wonderful if we could get some Dads helping out too!
Please note that only parents/carers with a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) can be permitted to attend. If you do not have a WWCC or if your existing one has expired, it is a very simple process to apply for a card and even simpler to renew an existing one. Among other things, a valid WWCC enables parents / carers to help out in classrooms, library and accompany excursions. If you already have a valid card, please let the office know. If you would like to renew or apply for a new card please click HERE.
Prep Nurse Visit
The Primary School Nursing Program offers a health assessment to children in their first year of school. Every prep child will receive a SEHQ (School Entrant Health Questionnaire) this afternoon. The questionnaire covers information about their health, including dental health, speech and language, hearing, vision, general development and behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
Please complete the questionnaire and return it to the school by Monday 11th September. Our visiting Primary School Nurse will be completing the Prep Health Assessments on Monday 4th December.
If you have any further questions, you can contact the Primary School Nursing Program in your region, which is listed in the back of the School Entrant Health Questionnaire.
Lunch Orders Next Week
Please note that due to the early 1pm finish next Friday 15th September, there will be no Subway orders. We have the special Footy Colours Day Hot Dog lunch on Wednesday 13th September that can be ordered via CDFpay. Classroom Cuisine will also still be available for orders on that day. Bakers Delight Orders will also still be available for Thursday 14th September.
