Some words from the Principal

Mrs Danielle Heatley

Fathers and Friends night

What a fabulous night we had last night!! The evening was a wonderful opportunity for fathers, friends, and families to connect and enjoy an evening of games, conversations, and shared laughter - as well as a bit of pizza. The huge turnout showcased the strength of our Karoo community and highlighted the importance of these gatherings in fostering bonds that go beyond the classroom!

Turf update

We wanted to share the developments and actions taken this year in regards to the much-anticipated turf project.

At the beginning of the year we received quotes and submitted them to the VSBA (Victorian Schools Building Authority).  Any project at all within a school that is over $50,000 requires their approval.  We then progressed through to the next stage and needed to obtain soil samples and further drainage reports. This took a couple of months due to the details.  After receiving these, all paperwork was submitted to VSBA and they have now approved it to move through to the next stage of the tender which is where we are now.   Up to date quotes are in progress and we can't wait to break soil by the end of 2023 (well that's the plan!!)

We understand the eagerness of our students, staff and parents to enjoy the new features and improvements.  This has been a test of our patience, and will therefore be even more appreciated when it happens! Stay tuned for more updates as we have them!

Working Bee thankyou!

A huge thankyou to each family that was able to make our recent working bee a resounding success. The dedication, enthusiasm, and hard work supports the transformation of our school into an even more inviting and vibrant learning environment.

Your efforts truly showcase the power of community collaboration. All children who attended and helped were thrilled to receive either a circus voucher or a canteen voucher!

Carparking

The staff car park is designated for some of our staff cars during the day. Using this area for student drop-offs and pick-ups poses a significant safety risk, as it disrupts the flow of traffic, potentially leading to accidents and confusion.

We understand that convenience matters, but the safety of your children is paramount. Utilising the designated drop-off zones on Murrindal and Karoo roads and adhering to the traffic guidelines helps create a smooth and safe environment for everyone.

Let's continue to work together to prioritise the safety of your children.

Sports tops

As mentioned in the last newsletter, we are so excited for our new sports tops and senior polos.  These are in production are due to be in stock, ready for purchase at KLAD during Term 1 next year.  Until then, the current design (which can still be worn) will be 30% off at KLAD from Term .

2023 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey

A huge thankyou to the 51 people that have completed the survey so far (16% of surveys that were sent out). The information you provide as KPS community members is highly beneficial for guiding our next steps and decision making at the school. It is also an opportunity for us to hear your feedback and respond accordingly.

This will be open until Friday 8th September and we really value parent input so please take the opportunity for your voice!

Have a wonderful week,

Danielle Heatley
