Message from the Principal

Cecilia Parada

I am delighted to see all our students from Kindergarten to Year 6 now happily settled into their classes and fully engaged in their learning. It's wonderful to witness the positive energy and enthusiasm around our school.

Last week marked the start of our sports programs for Years 3 to 6, and it’s been fantastic to see the students participating with such great spirit and teamwork. This week, we are excited to hold our Swimming Carnival (Stage 3 and selected students), which promises to be a fun and lively event for everyone involved.

School Bytes payments

We are pleased to advise that our school will be transitioning to the School Bytes finance system on Tuesday 17 February 2026

To support this transition, there will be a brief payment lockout period during which time payments cannot be accepted.

What this means for you

Online payments will be unavailable from 9:00 am on Thursday 12 February 2026.

  • We will send a reminder closer to the date confirming when payments can resume.
  • We will ensure that your child does not miss an event or opportunity due to this temporary lockout period.
  •

We encourage families to download the School Bytes Parent App from the App Store or Google Play. This allows you to securely store card details and easily make future payments for school events.

All previous payments will be automatically migrated to the new School Bytes finance system and Parent Portal.

Please let the school know if you are having any difficulty accessing the portal or receiving school messages. We are more than happy to assist.

Meet the teacher sessions

Building a strong partnership with your child's teacher is essential. The ‘Meet the Teacher’ session is a formal opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher, learn about the class organisation and routines, and be informed of the year’s teaching and learning programs.

The session will commence in the school hall with a 15 - 20-minute presentation, providing essential information about the upcoming school year. Following the presentation, parents will be invited to visit their child’s classroom, where they can meet the teacher, take a tour of the learning environment, and connect with other parents.

Please note, this event is designed to share general information and build community; it is not intended for one-on-one discussions about individual students. If you wish to discuss your child’s progress or specific concerns, kindly arrange a separate meeting with the teacher.

Wednesday 25 February

Kindergarten:  5:00 – 5:30 pm

Year 1 & 2: 5:30 – 6:00 pm

Thursday 26 February

Year 3 & 4: 5:00 – 5:30 pm

Year 5 & 6: 5:30 – 6:10 pm

Support Unit: 5:00 pm

Our teachers are looking forward to meeting you and discussing all the exciting things we have lined up for the year.

We kindly request that children do not attend the event, as their presence can create challenges with supervision and our duty of care responsibilities, as well as potentially disrupt the presentations. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The Lunar New Year 2026

Lunar New Year is an important celebration for many cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Mongolian, and Korean communities. In 2026, Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday, 17 February, marking the beginning of the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac.

This special festival is a time for families to come together, honour their ancestors, and enjoy traditions such as feasting, exchanging red envelopes, and sharing cultural performances. The Year of the Horse symbolises energy, strength, and new beginnings, adding extra meaning to this year’s celebrations.

We wish our families a joyful and prosperous Lunar New Year 2026!

Apology Day 2026

On Friday, 13 February 2026, we observed Apology Day, a time to remember and reflect on the 2008 National Apology to Australia’s Indigenous peoples. This day encourages us to acknowledge past injustices and renew our commitment to respect, healing, and reconciliation. Together, we strive for a future built on understanding and unity.

Staying Safe on the Way to School

We often hear from the community about students not following safety rules, like not wearing helmets or crossing roads unsafely. This shows we need to stay focused on safety.

To keep our students safe, please remind your child to wear a helmet when riding a bike or scooter to school. Helmets protect children and keep their smiles safe.

We also ask students to use designated crossings on the way to and from school. These crossings help keep them visible and safe from traffic.

Parents and caregivers are important too. By showing safe behaviour and reinforcing road safety, adults help children develop good habits for life.

Let’s work together to keep our kids safe every day.
