Boarding

As we settle into the rhythm of the term, it has been a pleasure to witness the energy, pride and strong sense of belonging that continues to define life in our boarding house.
The recent Swim Carnival was a wonderful highlight. It was fantastic to see such strong participation from our boarders, with girls throwing themselves into their events with enthusiasm and determination. A particular highlight was the boarders v day girl's relay. The excitement was palpable and the cheers from the sidelines reflected the deep camaraderie within our boarding community. The boarders’ win in the relay was a proud moment, but even more impressive was the team spirit, encouragement and unity shown by all.
We also enjoyed our first Principal’s Dinner for the year, where Mrs Danvers joined us for our Monday formal dinner. She spent time sitting with some of our new boarders, listening to their reflections on their first weeks of boarding and school. It was a valuable opportunity for the girls to share their experiences and for Mrs Danvers to hear firsthand about their transition into our community. The evening was warm, engaging and a lovely reminder of the personal care that underpins our boarding culture.
Finally, please note that the NSW Government has officially announced Monday 27 April 2026 as a public holiday. The Boarding House will remain open on this day, and normal boarding arrangements will continue.
Weekend Rec
Boarders from Kambala enjoyed a fun afternoon out with a trip to the Liverpool Ice Rink.
There were plenty of laughs as the girls took to the ice, with beginners bravely finding their balance and more confident skaters helping friends along the way. It was wonderful to see so much encouragement, resilience and team spirit on display.
On the way home, we stopped for a little thrift store shopping, where the girls enjoyed hunting for unique pre-loved treasures and sharing their finds. It was a lovely outing that strengthened friendships and added some extra fun to our boarding week.
Kambala Boarders Celebrate Lunar New Year at Bondi Junction
Our Kambala boarders recently enjoyed a vibrant and festive outing to Bondi Junction, embracing the spirit of Lunar New Year together.
The theme of the morning centred on preparing for Lunar New Year celebrations within the boarding house. The girls visited a range of shops to purchase their favourite traditional foods and special items to mark the occasion. There was a wonderful sense of excitement as they selected ingredients, treats and decorations to help create an authentic and meaningful celebration back at school.
Westfield Bondi Junction was beautifully decorated for Lunar New Year, adding to the atmosphere of the outing. Festive displays and special events throughout the centre made the experience even more memorable and immersive for the girls.
Upon returning to the boarding house, the celebrations continued in the kitchen. The girls enjoyed cooking their favourite dumplings and preparing traditional Lunar New Year dishes together.
The excitement is now building for the upcoming Boarders Lunar New Year Dinner on Monday evening, where the wider boarding community will come together to continue the celebrations.
It has been a wonderful opportunity to honour tradition, celebrate culture and build connection within our Kambala boarding family.
PREP
This year we are excited to introduce a new initiative designed to further support our Junior Boarders academically. In conjunction with the IB CAS requirements, we have launched a tutoring program that connects our younger girls with senior IB students during prep time in the library.
Ten IB students have generously volunteered to deliver weekly tutoring sessions, offering support across a range of subject areas. As part of their Creativity, Activity, Service commitment, these senior students are embracing the service component in a meaningful and practical way, while also developing leadership and mentoring skills.
Our Junior Boarders will benefit from working alongside some of the school’s highest academic achievers. Beyond assistance with homework and subject-specific skills, the program provides positive role modelling, study strategies, and encouragement from girls who understand the academic journey at Kambala.
It has been wonderful to see the library become a space of collaboration across year groups, with older students guiding and encouraging their younger peers. We look forward to watching this program grow and to seeing the confidence and academic skills of our Junior Boarders continue to flourish as a result of this valuable partnership.
