 Angelique Barbuto - Mathematics Leader

Hello from Angelique Barbuto

Hello, my name is Angelique Barbuto and I am the Mathematics Leader and Year 4 teacher. I am so excited to be a part of the St John’s community and to be part of the learning journey of all students. My role is to support all staff in the teaching and learning of mathematics. Throughout the year, I will be sharing information about maths at St John’s and provide families with ways to support maths learning at home. I look forward to a wonderful year filled with growth and success!

Testing Days

Thank you to all of our parents for supporting our students during their testing days with their new teachers at the start of the term. We truly appreciate this time as it supports our teachers to gather information about students have already mastered and to support them to develop a plan of where to next in their learning.

Maths at Home

At St John’s, we believe that the most effective learning happens when schools and families work together. Your involvement in your child’s maths journey can make a significant difference.

Here are some simple yet impactful ways you can support your child at home:

  • Encourage Daily Practice: Regularly practicing of basic number facts (e.g., times tables, addition/subtraction facts) helps build automaticity and confidence. Online platforms such as Sunset Maths, Studyladder and IXL are a great resource to support with this. Your child’s teacher will share with you their individual login details in the coming weeks.
  • Play Maths Games: Incorporate fun, interactive games that involve numbers, like card games, dice games, or puzzles. This makes learning enjoyable and engaging.
  • Apply Maths to Everyday Life: Involve your child in real-world activities; like cooking (measuring ingredients), shopping (calculating costs and change), or budgeting (discussing money and savings).
  • Celebrate Progress: Praise your child’s efforts and celebrate small milestones to build their confidence and motivation.

If you have any questions or would like additional resources, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
