Welcome & Important Dates

The Year 4 team at Glen Waverley Primary School is delighted to begin a new year of learning, growth and opportunity. The school community warmly welcomes families returning for another year and extends a heartfelt greeting to those joining for the first time. The commencement of the school year brings renewed enthusiasm, and it has been encouraging to observe the curiosity, creativity, and positive energy that Year 4 students are already bringing to their learning experiences.
The transition into Year 4 has been a positive and successful experience for students. Building on their existing knowledge and skills, students have embraced the new expectations and learning opportunities associated with moving into the senior school. They have shown confidence and a willingness to take on challenges as they adjust to their new learning environment.
The early weeks of the year have focused on supporting students to establish consistent routines, develop responsibility for their learning, and build strong connections within their classroom community. Students have demonstrated adaptability and enthusiasm as they take on increased responsibilities, including managing their time, contributing to collaborative learning tasks, and showing greater independence in their learning.
Throughout Term 1, a strong emphasis is being placed on establishing effective foundations for academic achievement and personal development. Students are engaging in purposeful learning across all curriculum areas, with a focus on developing critical thinking skills, collaboration, and resilience. Through interactive discussions, hands-on learning opportunities, and the thoughtful use of digital technologies, students are exploring a range of engaging topics that encourage curiosity and deeper understanding. Year 4 is shaping up to be a rewarding year, with a focus on meaningful relationships, exciting learning and the development of essential lifelong skills.
Families are encouraged to look forward to regular updates celebrating the achievements, learning milestones, and experiences of Year 4 students throughout the term.
