Golden Heritage Club Gathering

It was wonderful to see Golden Heritage Club members join the Year 12s for Mass in the TC Chapel last week.
This is a very special day on the TOBA calendar, and as the Class of 1976 celebrate 50 years since leaving school, we were delighted to welcome them to the group.
Cohorts spanned from the Class of 1956 to 1976, and we were thrilled to give the new inductees, Class ’65, a unique tie and pin which were bless by Fra Oscar Aguilera, designed especially for the Golden Heritage Club.
Following Mass, the group enjoyed morning tea in the staff lounge with a number of Yr 12 students. A most enjoyable morning for this incredible community.
Below are reflections from the gathering by Year 12 students who attended:
Xavier – Class of 2026
Talking to the men from the Golden Heritage Club, including former Principal Tony Curtis, who went to school before us, was a good and interesting experience. We learned about what life at Trinity College Perth was like in the past. Hearing their memories, like what sport they did and how Trinity helped them in life, was awesome!
Tom Class - of 2026
Last week I was fortunate enough to speak with men who experienced the same great institution we know as Trinity College 70 years before I did. This gathering allowed current students at Trinity, and Old boys apart of the Golden Heritage Club to come together and share their experiences which was both educational and deeply enriching.
Being able to hear their experiences from when they were at the college which for some members of the Golden Heritage Club was named CBC when they attended the college. Hearing these memories and stories that have remained with them and have stuck with them for life really reinforced my gratitude towards the college and the lasting impact it will have on me. Through conversations with the Golden Heritage Club members, I gained insight into life at Trinity College and CBC many years before I went. It was intriguing to hear about the different routines, expectations, and the normal everyday of a Trinity student. Despite these changes it was clear that the core principles of the College have remained the same.
Listening to their stories allowed me to appreciate the history of the college and understand how it has evolved into the fine institution we know today. What stood out to me the most was the strong sense of connection between past and present students. Although some of the men had graduated more than seventy years ago, they still spoke of Trinity with pride and gratitude. Their lifelong friendships some of the members were telling me about was particularly inspiring. It became evident that the ‘blue and green’ truly is for life being able to bring different generations of students together through shared experiences.
The morning tea really allowed me to reflect on my own journey here at Trinity. Being able to hear the advice and stories from members of the Golden Heritage Club reminded me of how lucky I am that my parents enrolled me here. Their gratefulness to their time at Trinity inspired me to really enjoy this last year of high school and absorb the last year of the ‘blue and green’. It motivated me to take every opportunity I can this year to make this last year of school the most special.
Overall, the Golden Heritage Club morning tea was a meaningful and memorable experience. It reminded me of how lucky I am to go to this amazing school it also allowed me to appreciate all the people I have met during my time here at Trinity and how those friendships and memories will last forever. It made me remember about the values and traditions that make Trinity what it is. This is a memory I will cherish and remember for the rest of my life. I hope one day I could be a part of the Golden Heritage Club and share a special moment like this with another student in the future.
Sebastian - Class of 2026
Talking with the men from the Golden Heritage Club was a really interesting experience. Even though they went to Trinity College many years before us, we could still relate to them. We share the same school values and traditions, and it showed me that the spirit of the school has stayed strong for over 100 years. One moment that stood out to me was meeting a man whose son now plays in Major League Baseball. He told me that his son grew up in Perth, just like I did. That made the experience feel even more personal, because it showed me that people from places like mine can go on to achieve amazing things. It made me think about my own future and what might be possible.
The morning tea also helped me understand more about the history of the school and how it has changed over time. Even though the buildings and layout may be different now, the friendships and strong sense of community are still the same. Overall, the experience made me feel proud to be part of the College and grateful for the opportunities we have today.
