Whole School Procedure –

Our whole school procedure over the next two weeks will be treating other equally.

Another word for this is dignity.  Human dignity goes hand in hand with the idea that each person deserves basic human rights, including the right to freedom, equality, and justice.

Human dignity is a fundamental concept that impacts every aspect of society, influencing how we treat others and how we expect to be treated ourselves.

How can we treat others with dignity?

Treat others respectfully.

Listen actively and show empathy.

Include others

Promote self-worth.

Be fair

Honor diversity.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships.

This year St Joseph's will be continuing to teach the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program. The RRRR resource uses a research-informed approach to provide age-appropriate learning activities. These activities are designed to support students’ social and emotional learning so that they can develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills required for respectful relationships. The approach is guided by research which shows that a structured curriculum for children and young people which promotes social and emotional skills and positive gender norms leads to improved health-related outcomes and subjective wellbeing. It also reduces antisocial behaviours including gender-based violence. This term our topics will be - Emotional Literacy and Personal Strengths.

Information about the topics will be included in each unit's weekly update.

Parents and carers as partners-

Parents and carers are a child’s first and most important teachers, particularly in relation to teaching core values and key social and emotional skills. The RRRR resource encourages students to talk with parents, carers, Elders and family members about what they are learning.
