VICE PRINCIPAL

Shaun.Cantwell@education.wa.edu.au

Hi, I’m Shaun Cantwell, and I will be filling the Deputy Principal position at the College this term. I look forward to listening, learning, and supporting the great work that happens at Harvey Ag each day. It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm and positive energy from both returning and new students, who have been engaging fully in their classes and learning over the past week. I’m excited to meet our students, families, and the wider College community as we begin the school year.

Timetable/Course Changes

Students are reminded that any queries or concerns regarding their timetable or course selections should be addressed by arranging a meeting with Mr Cantwell. Where possible, and within timetable and class capacity constraints, student preferences have been accommodated. The final date for student pathway changes is Friday, 27 February.

BYOD and WiFi

Most students now have their devices connected to the College Wi-Fi. Please ensure your child has an activated version of Microsoft Office (not just the trial version) so they can access the required software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Students can access Office 365 using their student email address while they are enrolled at the College. If students experience any issues with connectivity or accessing their Office 365 products, they can visit the front office to seek assistance and/or make an appointment with Mr Chris Wilson, the College IT Technician. Mr Wilson works at the College on Mondays and Thursdays.

Compass

The College has sent links for both Compass and CONNECT to all parents and carers.

New parents received their login details and account setup instructions at the end of last year. Thank you to those who have already accessed and completed this process. If parents or carers have not yet done so, please complete it as soon as possible.

This is important because Compass is the College’s main database and primary means of communication. HACChat (daily lunch notices) will be provided to parents and carers via Compass notifications. As outlined in correspondence sent at the end of last year, a Compass App is available for both iOS and Android devices.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the College so they can be resolved promptly.

Parents/Carers Accessing CONNECT

CONNECT is the Department of Education’s Learning Management System. Parents and carers can use this platform to access their child’s classes each year. At Harvey, CONNECT is used by teachers and trainers to provide students with access to relevant learning materials. Once parents and carers have access, they can also view and monitor their child’s academic progress.

Invitations have been sent to new parents and carers to enable them to set up access. Parents and carers who already have students attending other government schools should automatically see their child appear in CONNECT.

Open communication between the College and parents and carers is essential. Please do not hesitate to contact the College at any time to seek clarification or discuss any matter throughout the year. Thank you to the parents and carers who have already been in touch regarding a range of matters. Your communication is greatly appreciated and has contributed to a smooth start to the year.

We look forward to catching up with you throughout the term and the remainder of the year.

Have a great weekend!
