PRINCIPAL

Petrina.Bean@education.wa.edu.au

Welcome to the start of the 2026 school year. I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing break and had the chance to recharge. It has been wonderful to see the College come alive as students return to classes, reconnect with friends, and settle into their routines.

As the new Principal for Term 1, I want to extend a warm welcome to all returning families and to those joining the Harvey Ag College community for the first time. Stepping into this role is an absolute privilege, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and serve our students, staff, and families during this important start to the year.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank Steve Watt, with the support of Dean Pfitzner, for the outstanding leadership they have provided to the College. Their dedication and hard work have left the College in a strong, positive position, and I am truly grateful for the legacy they have created for us to continue building upon. Best wishes to Steve in his retirement.

A Little About Me

I come to the College with a strong appreciation for agriculture and rural education, shaped by both my work in schools and my hands-on experience on farms. This background has given me a deep respect for the practical, real-world learning that makes agricultural education so valuable.

My family and I are firmly connected to regional communities, and that connection guides my work as a leader. I value strong relationships, meaningful learning, and helping young people see a future in the places they call home.

I am passionate about ensuring students can thrive locally and that their education reflects the skills and values important in agricultural settings. Every part of this College, from Farm, Trades, Class, Residential and Domestic/Kitchen staff, plays a vital role in supporting our students, and I’m excited to work alongside such dedicated staff.

As I settle in, my focus will be on listening, learning how things work across the College, and building on the strong foundations already in place. I look forward to meeting you and working together to support your children’s success.
