Dear School Community,

Welcome to the 2026 school year!

We hope you enjoyed a restful and joyful holiday. Our staff commenced the year a week early, engaging in rich professional learning to ensure a strong start for our students. As part of the Catholic Special School network, we collaborated with Education Consultants from the Catholic Education Office in the areas of Catholic Identity and the MITIOG (Made in the Image of God) Curriculum.

In line with the School Operating Procedure – Child Safeguarding, I am required to provide you with key information regarding Child Protection practices across Catholic Special School, Catholic Education South Australia (CESA), and national guidelines.

The safety and wellbeing of every student entrusted to our care remains our highest priority. Across Catholic Special School - Our Lady of La Vang School and St Patrick’s Special School, we uphold robust Child Protection policies and procedures that align with CESA and national standards, ensuring our schools are safe, supportive, and responsive environments.

We maintain full compliance with South Australian Child Protection legislation and take a proactive approach to safeguarding students from all forms of abuse, including bullying, harassment, and neglect. Our schools operate as mandated child-safe environments, this includes meeting all legal, policy, and procedural obligations for staff and volunteers.

As required by the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (SACCS), we continue to implement comprehensive child safety policies and practices, including delivering child safety education to our school community.
