From the Acting Principal
Can you believe we are in the final stretch heading towards the end of Term 2. Where did the time go? The school holidays are nearly upon us.
As everyone knows, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Kemball at the end of Term 3. We will all be sad to see her go as she has done so much for Ridgeview School in the time she has been Principal. 😢
I will continue in the position of Acting Principal for Term 3 and will work hard keeping the school ticking along as normal, with the help of the fabulous staff.
Please note: School reports will be coming home this week, please check your child's bag for them.
I do want to thank everyone for a the support they have given the school through Term 2 and all the changes. We are lucky to have a caring school community.

Life Education
We had a fun time visiting with Harold and Jenni from Life Education. We learnt lots about the brain and how it effects our emotions, how to bring ourselves back to calm by using the star given by Harold and the classes even got to have a joke battle with Harold. We can't wait to catch up with them both again next year.
Cross Country
On Wednesday 12 June, we took 9 students to compete at cross country held at Coatesville School. True to Ridgeview form, our students all ran a good race. They all tried their hardest and never gave up. It was wonderful to see the support they gave each other. Thank you to Mel and Emma for transporting the children to and from the event.
Thank you
We would like to say a big thank you to Cory from Eagle Home and Restoration. He kindly offered us the use of his cherry picker to help put up the new basketball goals. We were even luckier when he stayed to assist Mr Hart with putting them up.
Matariki
We had a wonderful turn out to our Matariki Breakfast on Thursday.
It was lovely to see all the families come together to celebrate with us. Parents and families were welcomed with songs sung by the children and a short pepeha made by Jemima to introduce our whakatauki and school karakia.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Ridgeview for helping put the breakfast on, from setting up, cooking the bbq and serving our wonderful tamariki and whanau.
AJHS Visit
On Thursday 13 June, 12 of our 13 year 6s got to travel to Albany Junior High School for an experience day.
This day is run every year and is a great way for the Year 6s to see what school life is like, once they leave Ridgeview. We were lucky to be shown around by Ollie who is an ex student of Ridgeview.
The Year 6s got to have a go at learning a hip hop dance routine, try different experiments in Science and ended the day with decorating cookies in Food Tech.
Ice cream sundaes
We will be selling ice cream sundaes on Thursday 4 July for $2.00 each. Ice cream forms came home on Monday.
Message from the Board Chair
Tena koutou RidgeView Community,
Rachael has made the difficult decision to resign from her role to focus on her health. The board accepted Rachael Kemball’s resignation with a mix of sadness and heartfelt appreciation. Our thoughts and well-wishes are with her as she embarks on the next stage of her treatment.
As Chair of the RidgeView School Board, I want to express our gratitude to Rachael for her remarkable dedication and leadership over the past decade. Her commitment to our school, our students, staff and parents has been immense.
Katrina Hart will continue as Acting Principal, ensuring that our school remains in capable and caring hands during this transition. We are grateful for her leadership and commitment and thank her for stepping up into this role.
We have begun the search for a new Principal and engaged a consultant – Alan Curtis, to help the board with this process. Alan will be consulting with students, staff, and parents as part of the recruitment process.
Board Casual Vacancy
The departure of Anna Boardman and her family to Australia has created a casual vacancy on the board. After discussion at the last board meeting the board has decided to fill the vacancy by selection. This will ensure the new trustee can be part of the principal recruitment process.
However, if 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.
If you wish for there to be a by-election, please send your request to me at the following email address by 25 July, 2024.
Nga mihi nui
Liz de Kort
Ridgeview Board Chair
