As we approach the end of this term, I find myself reflecting on the many wonderful achievements that have occurred over the last 11 weeks.
Term 2 in a Nutshell
I am very happy with the progress our students have made academically. The upcoming reports highlight significant improvement across the board during this first semester. I commend each student for their hard work and commitment to learning.
I am especially proud of the detailed information our reports provide to parents. With assessments in mathematics and literacy, parents can see where their child excels and where they might need more support. A big thank you to our dedicated teachers for their hard work on these reports.
Our achievements this term have been truly outstanding. Our Indonesian competition showcased the exceptional talents of our students in LOTE, highlighted by an exciting Indonesian Day at Heathmont College.
The Division and Regional Cross Country events demonstrated our students' athletic ability. Year 6 students impressed us with their Museum in Motion projects, proudly sharing their work with the community.
We also had the UR Strong Night, where Year 3 students and their parents learned about building healthy friendships.
Our Year 4 students enjoyed a fantastic excursion to CERES Community Environment Park, and the Prep UR Strong Excursion to Eastland was a delightful experience for our youngest learners.
Our Division Girls Football team showcased great skills, and the AFWL Football Clinic was an inspiring experience for all involved.
The fun didn’t stop there.
Our Education Night with a focus on STEM brought families to school paired with a dress -up of all things science. Heathmont School Leaders Day, Gala Day, The Long Walk, the Year 3 City Walk Excursion, Action Teams for Year 4 & 5 students, and the attendance at the ANZAC Day ceremony all added to the vibrancy of our school.
Our Year 5 and 6 camp at Campaspe Downs provided amazing opportunities for students to challenge themselves with various adventure activities, and the Dip Dot Sip night for parents was a big hit, thanks to our wonderful fundraising committee.
We finished the term today with a fun-filled Pyjama Day, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.
-And you thought we just taught students how to read and write!
Staff Changes
Looking ahead to next term, Mr. Alex MacDonald and Mr. Hugh Kendall will be away for Term 3, having wonderful travelling adventures with their families around Australia.
Mrs Abbott will be working in Mr Kendall’s class for the term.
We are waiting patiently on the arrival of Callum Warren-Smiths first baby, so stay tuned for any news!
Retirement
I would also like to acknowledge and farewell someone who has been an amazing part of our school community for over 20 years, Grainne Douglas.
Grainne has been more than a casual relief teacher–she has been a friend, a mentor, and a lifesaver for us all. No matter what role needed filling or how long it was for Grainne always stepped up without hesitation. Your positive attitude and dedication will always be remembered at GRPS. You've touched the lives of students and staff members. Thank you for everything you've done for us.
We wish you all the best in your retirement.
As we finish this term, I wish everyone a restful and refreshing break ahead.
