Nourishing Minds
Wellbeing Hub
In addition to the continuous support from our welfare team, students have numerous opportunities throughout the year to participate in our various wellbeing initiatives. We have a range of programs and workshops tailored at individual, group and whole school levels. Below are some of the current initiatives happening in Term 3:
Year 9 Love Bites
Equips selected Year 9 girls with the knowledge needed to have respectful relationships, encourage, and develop their skills in critical thinking and assist them to problem solve and communicate effectively. This self-empowerment program looks at raising the self-awareness and equipping our students with tools on how to face different adverse situations.
Year 7 My Strengths
This week our Year 7 students participated in the My Strengths program where the focus was on celebrating individuality and raising self-awareness. Moving into high school is a huge transition. Students often feel overwhelmed and ill-equipped to face the challenges ahead. The MyStrengths program allows every student in Year 7 to explore five of their characteristics’ strengths. Students walked away with their own personalised Strengths Pack, learning the 4 things resilient people do, discovering their top 5 strengths and understanding how to develop a growth mindset.
Years 9 and 10 – Muay Thai for Mental Health
Continuing from last term, students engaged in groups where they learned the importance of physical health and the link to mental health. Partnering with a local dojo, we had expert trainers come in to teach our students discipline through the use of Muay Thai. The girls who took part of the program also learned a variety of self-defence techniques.
Year 8 Boys
Boys Program
A weekly boys program will be commencing this term for selected Year 8 boys. This program aims to improve their emotional intelligence, responses, reaction, self-awareness and the importance of positive relationships. The workshops are tailored around the students’ needs as they will set their own individual and group goals for the program.
