AUTISM INCLUSION TEACHER

T2 2024

Wow…!!! This term is absolutely flying by…

The SIES (Statewide Inclusive Education Services) Parent Forum, which was held at our lovely school on Wednesday, was a big success. Apart from the amazing information that was presented on: NDIS providers in schools, health care plans, the Autism Inclusion Teacher role, Hearing, and Regulation at home, it was heart-warming to see connections being build, stories shared, and new friendships created.  These sessions are held each term, and we hope to continue having one held down south.

If you are interested in attending these in the future please use the QR code below to sign up to the SIES mailing list. This will ensure that you get the latest information about the supports they offer, training/ info sessions and parent forums. If you sign up to the mailing list, they will also automatically send you the link to access Wednesday’s recorded session.

A personal highlight of the forum was hearing from Billie-Jane Harley, an OT from the Self-Regulation Team. Her presentation on regulation at home was a real winner..!! She gave simple, yet effective examples of regulation exercises – the resource below is a small snippet of what was presented.  (I have now put a copy on my fridge at home to give my partner and I ideas of what we can do with our young ones to help with regulation.)

***REMEMBER our Parent, Talking ND session will be held in week 8 – more info will be sent out this coming Tuesday. These chats/ sessions are for any parent who is keen to build their knowledge of neurodivergence, parents of neurodivergent young people (your child does NOT need a diagnosis for you to attend), or neurodivergent yourself. I hope to see you there…
