Invasion games Unit in PE

As we approach the end of Term 2, it's time to reflect on the fantastic progress our students have made in Physical Education (PE). This term, our focus has been on invasion games through the sport of netball. Students have not only learned the fundamental skills of passing, shooting, and defending but also developed teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking.

Netball Highlights

Throughout the term, students engaged in various drills and games that honed their abilities. We saw remarkable improvements in agility and coordination. The friendly matches held during classes were a testament to the students' hard work and enthusiasm. Our young athletes showcased sportsmanship and a positive competitive spirit, making this netball unit a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.

Transition to Basketball

As we transition to the next exciting phase of our PE curriculum, we are thrilled to announce that basketball will be our new focus. Starting next week, students will swap their netball bibs for basketball jerseys as we dive into the fundamentals of this dynamic sport. The change in sports will provide students with the opportunity to learn new skills and apply their existing knowledge of invasion game strategy in a different context, further broadening their athletic abilities.

Southern Tigers Basketball Club Collaboration

Adding to the excitement, we are delighted to partner with the esteemed Southern Tigers Basketball Club. They will be running a four-week Sporting Schools program specifically tailored for our students. This program will be a fantastic opportunity for our young athletes to receive professional coaching and gain insights from experienced players.

The Southern Tigers Basketball Club is renowned for their expertise and dedication to nurturing young talent. Their involvement will not only enhance our PE curriculum but also inspire students to develop a deeper passion for basketball. The sessions will include skill development, game tactics, and plenty of fun, ensuring that students of all abilities are engaged and challenged.

Looking Ahead

We are confident that this collaboration will be a highlight of the term and leave a lasting impact on our students. We encourage all students to embrace this new challenge and join a team outside of school. Hopefully Southern Tigers will assist us in the basketball section of our sports day next term, so we will be seeing them again soon.
