Kitchen Garden program update

What a wonderful round of cooking we have had this month. We cooked up a spicy menu of samosas, dahl, Jerusalem artichoke curry with pilau rice and raita.

The students all tasted the dishes with the samosas coming out as the favourite along with the curry which can be made with potato and pumpkin if you don’t have Jerusalem Artichokes growing in the garden.

The recipes for this month's dishes can be found as attachments below;

Our efforts in the garden are paying off with cauliflowers, silver beet, broccoli, Warrigal greens, rhubarb and Jerusalem artichokes being harvested over the last few months and kale, cabbage, onions, radishes, beetroot and snow peas well on their way.

We are constantly harvesting and freezing produce so we can use it during our cooking sessions. Thanks to the families who have shared that they have been keeping an eye on the garden to ensure any produce is saved for the students who work so hard to grow it.

Kitchen Garden Session helpers needed

Thanks also to all the adults who gave up their time to help us in the kitchen and garden. We couldn’t run the program without your continued support!

Chicken carers needed (in return for fresh eggs!)

Our small egg stall last Friday raised over $70 which will go back into the Kitchen Garden program to buy supplies for the chickens. We are again looking for volunteers to check on them over the holidays. If you are available to top up their food and water and check in on them, you can keep the eggs laid that day.
