Excursion to Readings

Last Thursday, 3/4G had a terrific trip to Readings, St Kilda where they heard the store manager and buyer, Kim Grushow, speak. Kim shared information about the different parts within the Childrens’ section of their store and shared some recommended new releases. Kim discussed the publishing process and how her job works in selecting the children's books that Readings stock.

An exciting part of the trip was that each student was given the opportunity to select a new book for their classroom library. This is thanks to YOU! Every time you mention that you are a part of the SKiPPS community when making a purchase at the Readings, St Kilda store, a percentage of the spend is put into a fund for us to buy more books for our school classroom libraries.

As soon as we have a new build up of funds, I will arrange for another class to go to the store, hear Kim talk and choose some new books. 3/4G are currently reading their new books and will prepare some book reviews shortly. Next term, I will share some of those reviews with you.

Next time you shop at Readings, please mention that you are a part of the SKiPPS community. With each purchase, Readings contribute a percentage of the cost for the school to spend on more books.

Pen Pals

Thank you to Kara Barbuto and the students who wrote letters to residents residing in the Sacred Heart community. As always, the SKiPPS students made me proud by the beautiful letters they created for the pen pals.

It is not too late to join in, if your child would like to take part in this initiative in Term 3, please tell them to come and see me at school or you can email me and I will follow it up.
