3 Bees ELC Visted COHR

Community post in 3 Bees Early Learning Centre

Today, our kindergarten children had a fantastic visit to COHR Primary School. Under the supervision of Frosyni, Mohamed, and Elli, the Honeypot children walked to the school, excited to explore and meet community members.

In the library, they were treated to a captivating storytelling session led by Karen the school librarian. The book, "Everyone Wants an Octopus" by Liz Ledden, is a thought-provoking picture book that highlights the importance of representation in literature. The story follows Inky the octopus and their friend Quack the duck as they search for books featuring characters that look like them. When they don't find any, they decide to create their own story.

After the storytime, Karen invited the children to explore the library and pick their own books from the shelves in different categories. The library was a treasure trove of colours and inclusivity, with cozy nooks and crannies for reading. The children sat on plush cushions, small desks, and chairs and couches immersing themselves in the world of words.

To further engage their imagination, Karen organized a scavenger hunt inspired by the story "Bowerbird Blues". The children had to find blue items such as buttons, pegs, bottle tops, and flowers around the library. It was a fun and interactive way to encourage their exploration.

As we were exploring the school, Elli asked if we could visit some familiar faces from our service's past. We were delighted to visit Oliver (now in Grade 2), Evie and Bonnie (both in Prep). The children were thrilled to see them again, and we couldn't be prouder of how much they have grown! Elli has known these children for years Oliver and Evie were babies when they started at 3 Bees so it is such a beautiful and emotional journey!

We look forward to visiting the school again and they will also be coming to 3 Bees for visits.

Have a lovely afternoon!

Kind regards Elli Voukidis
