Planning Ahead for Semester 2
Staff are currently in the final stages of 'big picture planning' for teaching and learning that will take place in Semester 2. Each semester, an overarching concept is chosen as a lens for inquiry learning across the school.
In Semester 2 2024, our whole school Inquiry concept will be ADAPTATION.
We have already collated information around students’ prior knowledge, ideas and wonderings about the concept of ADAPTATION. Utilising this information during our planning phase ensures that we are able to incorporate Student Voice as we design engaging learning experiences and units of work.
We would also LOVE to hear parents’ perspectives too.
We sent out a survey a couple of weeks ago, but have only had a handful of responses.
We'd love more input from parents and families.
The attached optional survey should only take a couple of minutes to complete. Click on this LINKand let us know what you think about ADAPTATION.
Semester 1 Reports
Semester 1 Reports will be sent home next Friday 28th June 2024.
The purpose of the report is to formally report student achievement and progress to parents/carers, and to report directly against the Victorian Curriculum F-10 Achievement Standards.
Achievement in the Victorian Curriculum domains is marked using an A-E scale as required by the Commonwealth Government.
A student who has achieved the ‘C’ rating indicates that he or she has met the state wide standards.
Rating | Achievement descriptor | Fully worded descriptor |
C | At Standard | At the standard expected at this time of the year |
A | Well Above Standard | Well above the standard expected at this time of the year |
B | Above Standard | Above the standard expected at this time of the year |
D | Below Standard | Below the standard expected at this time of the year |
E | Well below Standard | Well below the standard expected at this time of the year |
Our ‘Target Skills’ are a checklist of skills that are of focus in your child’s learning throughout the semester. These skills are taken directly from the Achievement Standards and assist classroom teachers in the marking of your child’s achievement against the Victorian Curriculum.
When assessing Target Skills, the following scale of achievement is used:
Not Yet Evident | Beginning | Developing | Achieved | Embedded in Learning |
No evidence of the skill | Beginning to show the skill with/without support | Displays elements of the skill independently | Displays the skill consistently and independently | Applies the skill to other areas of learning |
The report also includes written overviews of what has been taught in the various Curriculum Areas, including Specialist Areas, as well as a general comment on your child’s social and emotional skills.
Parent Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 2 of Term 3 - Tuesday 23rd July & Thursday 25th July 2024. These interviews are a formal opportunity to discuss your child’s progress. Booking information will be made available next term.
However, at any time, should you want to discuss your child’s progress, please feel free to make a mutually convenient time to speak to your child’s classroom teacher.
